About him
I am confident, calm and well balanced. I am very comfortable in my own skin and happy in my own company. I retired aged 59 after a successful, 30 year professional career. I have very strong values, a good moral compass and expect the same of others. Honesty and integrity have been the cornerstones of my personal and professional life. I can tell a story but I am also content to listen to others. I am well educated, articulate and down to earth. I am in tune with my emotions, a good communicator and equally good listener. I respect others and their opinions although I may not agree with them. I can be entertaining with a dry sense of humour. I have a strong interest in the lives of others, how they have been shaped by their experiences and developed resilience. Like many, I have faced adversity and have learned many life lessons. I have never spent Friday evening in the pub with mates, Saturday at the match or Sunday on the golf course. I have taken my personal and professional responsibilities very seriously.
I am fit and healthy and take regular exercise (walking and cycling). I am not keen on football (or football parents!) but do watch rugby, cricket, athletics, tennis and cycling (but I am not a diehard fan of any sport).
I prefer city breaks, rail and road holidays abroad and self guided walking holidays (luggage transported and quality hotels) along with good conversation. I do not like resort or beach holidays (I can burn under a reading lamp). I enjoy architecture but do not profess a deep knowledge. I keep abreast of world affairs and politics from reputable news sources. My leisure reading is generally factual, historical, political or autobiographical.
