About her
I’m happiest when life has a bit going on: a tennis match, a ski slope, a new travel destination, a gallery I haven’t visited before or a kitchen full of friends, laughter and something bubbling on the hob. I love to cook — preferably with good company.
I play tennis a couple of times a week, strength train and practise yoga every day, although I’m equally happy enjoying an evening at home watching a good show, with good food and no particular plans. I’m a real homebody too.
I’m curious by nature and love learning new things, even when the learning curve occasionally turns into a cliff edge.
At the moment, I’m learning to play the piano and read music. It’s rewarding, humbling and occasionally sounds as though I’ve invited several unrelated tunes to the same party. I’m hoping the neighbours appreciate jazz.
I’m lucky to have a wonderful circle of friends from all over the world. Family matters enormously to me. I was married for 32 years and have three grown-up sons who are a big part of my life.
I’m warm, loyal, affectionate and positive, with a fairly straightforward view of life: what you put in tends to be what you get back. I’m very happy with the life I’ve built, but I’d love to share it with someone who adds to it rather than rearranging it — ideally with a little laughter along the way.

I’m looking for a man who knows himself, knows what he wants and is comfortable taking the lead — without confusing leadership with issuing instructions. Confidence is attractive; taking yourself too seriously is not.
Kindness, generosity and confidence matter to me, as do humour, curiosity and a sense of purpose. I’m drawn to someone who looks after himself, has interests of his own and enjoys being active, whether that means skiing, walking, travelling or simply being persuaded to try something new.
A little spontaneity would be very welcome. I love that feeling of doing something exciting without a plan — especially when the company is good and neither of us is entirely sure where we’re going.
Family is at the centre of my life, so I’d like to meet someone who understands that — perhaps because he has children of his own.
We’ve all had a few knocks along the way. I think I’ve learnt from mine, done the necessary work and come out the other side with a much clearer sense of who I am. I’d value that same self-awareness and emotional maturity in someone else.
The ideal evening might involve good food, a lovely glass of wine, plenty of laughter and conversation that runs well past the point at which either of us notices the time. Add travel, affection and a shared sense of adventure, and I’d be very happy indeed.
Next year I’ve booked an extended trip to Sri Lanka and Japan. I’ve never travelled alone before, but I decided it was time to give it a go.
